OUR HISTORY

Unveiling the story of Gum Air N.V.

  • Surinam Sky Farmers

Surinam Sky Farmers was founded when the Gummels brothers responded to the decision of the fledgling agricultural industry to start aerial crop treatment.
  • Gum Air (GA)

Once Surinam Sky Farmers was fully operational SML requested passenger transportation by air, from Wageningen to Paramaribo. This was the solution to the long and tiring journey that lasted no less than 6 hours. With this request the idea was born to start with domestic flights to the interior. Gum Air has now been in business for more than 50 years and has vast experience in bush flying and operating to every single airfield in Suriname. With our fleet we mainly serve tour operators, mining businesses, local villages, medical cases and government support flights. In collaboration with Trans Guyana Airways (TGA) we maintain the Suriname – Guyana Route. GA also offers ticketing, ground handling, maintenance, refueling, passenger and cargo handling services.
  • Heliport Paramaribo/EAG International Airport

Since 2015, Gum Air also operates a heliport that is located at the Gummelsweg. Heliport Paramaribo is the first dedicated heliport built in Suriname and is mainly used for helicopter charters, primarily for oil and gas (O&G) offshore development activities. With the recent O&G discoveries, the offshore drilling activities are increasing, demanding efficient and safe transportation of people and material to and from the drill ships. By adding two new hangars and a passenger terminal Heliport Paramaribo is expanding its operations, which is essential for their strategic plan to transform into an international airport, named: EAG Airport Management N.V
